A 21st birthday deserves a soundtrack that brings everyone together. For our recent booking at The Clissold Arms in Finchley, North London, that meant mixing music from the 80s and 90s with current favourites—and helping loved ones further afield join the celebration through our first TikTok LIVE.
It was our third time DJing at The Clissold Arms, and another opportunity to return to a venue we enjoy working with: welcoming staff, fantastic food and a choice of spaces for celebrations.
A birthday playlist for different generations
One of the best parts of a milestone birthday is bringing friends and family together. The music needs to reflect the person celebrating while giving guests of different ages something to enjoy.
For this 21st birthday, we played a mix of 80s favourites, 90s classics and current music, moving between decades as the evening developed.
Our approach is to combine the client’s musical preferences with what is happening in the room. A carefully chosen playlist provides the starting point, but reading the crowd helps us decide where to take the next mix.

Our first TikTok LIVE: sharing the party beyond the venue
This event also marked a first for WE R DJS: we launched our TikTok LIVE on @werdjs.co.uk, reaching 500 viewers.
For our clients, the appeal went beyond the viewing figures. They were able to share moments from the celebration with loved ones around the world who could not attend in person.
There is something special about using music to connect people, whether they are together at the venue or watching from another country. It was a memorable way to launch our live stream and share part of the evening with a wider audience.

Why we enjoy DJing at The Clissold Arms
Having now DJed at The Clissold Arms three times, we have experienced its atmosphere and hospitality across several visits.
The staff have been great to work with, and the food has consistently impressed us. From our experience, it is a venue well worth considering if you are planning a birthday party, wedding celebration or another special occasion in North London.
A choice of spaces for different celebrations
The Clissold Arms’ website describes five distinct areas:
● The Kinks Room
● The Terrace
● The Shed
● The main restaurant and bar area
● A heated and covered beer garden for year-round use
That variety gives hosts different options to explore, depending on the occasion. Speak directly with the venue about which spaces are available for private hire, guest numbers, catering and entertainment arrangements.
Visit The Clissold Arms website to explore the venue and discuss your plans.
Food that adds to the occasion
Food is another reason we enjoy returning. The venue specialises in Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, and its food has always been incredible during our visits.
For anyone organising a celebration, having food, drinks and entertainment at the same venue can make planning simpler and help the evening flow naturally.
Planning a birthday party in Finchley or North London?
Whether you are organising a 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th or another milestone celebration, the right DJ should take time to understand your guests, your music and the atmosphere you want to create.
Before booking your entertainment, it helps to consider:
● Your music: favourite genres, must-play songs and anything you would prefer us to leave out.
● Your guests: the age range and musical tastes of the people attending.
● Your venue: available space, access for setup and any sound restrictions.
● Your timings: when guests arrive, when food is served and when you want the main party to begin.
At WE R DJS, we work with you to shape the music around your celebration, combining your preferences with our experience behind the decks.
